Family Visas

Family Visas comprise of - Partner, Parent, and Child Visas. 

Types of Australian Family Visas

Family visas are generally grouped into partner visas, parent visas, child visas, and other relative visas.

Partner Visas

For spouses, de facto partners, or prospective spouses of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

  • Subclass 820/801: Partner Visa (Onshore) – Temporary (820) and Permanent (801).

  • Subclass 309/100: Partner Visa (Offshore) – Temporary (309) and Permanent (100).

  • Subclass 300: Prospective Marriage Visa – For fiancés planning to marry within 9 months.

Parent Visas

For parents of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

  • Subclass 103: Parent Visa – Permanent visa with long processing times.

  • Subclass 143: Contributory Parent Visa – Faster processing, but higher fees.

  • Subclass 173: Contributory Parent (Temporary) – Allows a pathway to 143.

  • Subclass 804: Aged Parent Visa – For older parents who meet age requirements.

  • Subclass 864/884: Contributory Aged Parent Visa – Temporary (884) to Permanent (864).

Child Visas

For dependent children of Australian citizens, permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens.

  • Subclass 101: Child Visa (Offshore) – Permanent residence.

  • Subclass 802: Child Visa (Onshore) – Permanent residence.

  • Subclass 445: Dependent Child Visa – Temporary, for children whose parent holds a temporary partner visa.

​Other Family Visas

For remaining relatives, carers, or dependent relatives of Australian residents.

  • Subclass 115/835: Remaining Relative Visa – For those with no close family outside Australia.

  • Subclass 116/836: Carer Visa – For carers of an Australian relative with a medical condition.

  • Subclass 114/838: Aged Dependent Relative Visa – For elderly relatives financially dependent on an Australian sponsor.
